(915) ? 857-3344 msd hall-effect pickup pn 2348 parts included: 1 - pickup assembly, 1/2" x 20 x 1.25" 1 - magnet and retainer 1 - 3-pin weathertight connector 3 - weathertight terminals and seals figure 1 installing the terminals. notes: ? this pickup can be used to replace the non-magnetic pickup used in msds cam sync distributors or as a cam sync pickup in custom installations. ? precise machining is required when installing the msd hall-effect pickup to a cam gear or other engine component. ? the magnet must be installed with the proper polarity facing the pickup with power supplied, pass the magnet over the pickup. polarity is correct when the magnet turns the led off. connector installation 1. install the weathertight seals, terminals and connector (figure 1). it is recommended to use msds pro-crimp tool, pn 35051, with weathertight dies, pn 3509. 2. strip the sleeve of the wire back then install the seal on the wire. 3. crimp the exposed wire with the conductor crimp tabs. 4. once the wire is crimped, crimp the seal tabs over the seal. 5. position each wire into the connector making sure they are in the correct position for your application. magnet installation 1. the magnet retainer is .383 diameter and requires a mounting hole be drilled. 2. before installing the magnet, the polarity must be correct. connect power and ground to the pickup, the led will light. pass the magnet over the pickup. when the led turns off, the polarity is correct (figure 2). seal tabs conductor tabs seal tabs conductor tabs wire crimped
